"Live at the BBC" was a big success, and spurred the releases of "Anthology" vols. 1, 2 and 3 in 1995 and 1996. Enormous sums were used on advertising the albums, and for a big number of new fans these were their first Beatles records. The first one sold well, the second a little less and the third even less, but they brought the Beatles back into the top of the charts, especially in the USA. The CD's contain demos, concert recordings, radio- and TV-recordings as well as different studio recordings or mixes. So even if a lot of the titles look familiar, these are previously unreleased versions. In addition there are songs here that hasn't been released before and two "brand new" Beatles-songs: Free As A Bird and Real Love, based around two demos from the late John Lennon. The three remaining Beatles recorded these songs in 1994 and 1995, under Jeff Lynne's production.
