Still, demands for some
LP's was so high that domestic pressings of the records had to be made, although
the covers still had to be imported. We do not know if this was due to a shortage
of foreign pressings, a simple way to cut cost on transport or both. What we
do know, is that this means that there are norwegian pressings of Beatles LP's
for the pleasure of us collectors.
All norwegian pressings are from U.K. LP's. We have also concluded that there never was a norwegian stereo pressing of “Rubber Soul”, only mono ones. This is confirmed by the many danish stereo “Rubber Soul” albums found in Norway.
Apparently, the stereo
“Help!” had trouble selling out, and the company opted for importing stereo
versions of “Rubber Soul” from Denmark to accompany the domestic mono-only release.
The Let It Be boxed set had norwegian records inserted, but this set is hard to come by in Norway, as it sold very poorly in this country. Eventually, EMI Norsk A/S grew tired of the boxes taking up precious space on the shelves and exported them to Greece, where demand was higher. However, we don’t know if the norwegian records were removed when the remainder of the boxed sets were shipped to Greece. Greek collectors are advised to check out their Let It Be boxes and report to us if the records are norwegian.
